The Member representing Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, has officially defected to the Labour Party, marking a significant political shift in Abia State.

Hon. Ikwechegh, popularly known as Onyeocha N’Aba, confirmed his move following his recent resignation from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Shortly after declaring for the Labour Party, the federal lawmaker met with the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, in what observers describe as a strategic political engagement.

While the details of their closed-door meeting were not immediately disclosed, political analysts believe the development signals a strengthening of the Labour Party’s structure in Aba and across Abia State.
