Amadeus University, Amizi in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State, has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence three new professional programmes, Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), Law (LLB), and Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D).

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel M. Nzotta, disclosed this during a press conference ahead of the institution’s second matriculation ceremony scheduled for February 28, 2026.

According to him, the approval followed a rigorous assessment of the University’s human and material resources by the NUC.
He revealed that the University has already admitted its first set of MBBS students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

With the addition of the new programmes, Amadeus University now runs 22 NUC-approved programmes under seven faculties.

Prof. Nzotta also announced that the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria conducted an advisory visit in October 2025 and gave approval for the Nursing Science programme.
He described the developments as a major milestone in the University’s quest to become an international centre of learning and research.
