The media community in Abia State and beyond has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of veteran journalist, Mazi Onukwube TG Ofoelue (Thankgod), Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jungle Journalist Media Limited.

In an obituary announcement issued on behalf of the Ofoelue Family of Ezi Nde Ukpabi, Ugbo Village, Arochukwu, his elder brother, Mazi Obozuluike Ofoelue (Ikemba Aro), disclosed that the respected journalist passed away in the evening of Monday, February 23, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 48 years old.

Until his death, Mazi Onukwube was widely known for practising journalism with deep passion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to truth. His professional footprint extended across several media platforms, earning him admiration among colleagues and stakeholders.

He was a dedicated member of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), where he actively contributed to the growth and development of the profession.

Describing his passing as painful and devastating, the family noted that they have lost “a most resourceful and loving brother a man of courage, vision, and dedication.” They added that his absence leaves a deep void not only in the family but also within the media community he so passionately served.

Burial arrangements, according to the family, will be announced in due course.

Late Mazi Onukwube TG Ofoelue is remembered as a fearless voice, a committed media entrepreneur, and a journalist who stood firmly for truth and accountability.
