The Ogunnusi Oloko Family of Arapagi-Oloko Village in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State has petitioned Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Nigeria Police Force, alleging the illegal sale of their ancestral land and fraudulent representation of family leadership.
In the petition, the family accused Mr. Sakiru Ganiyu of falsely presenting himself as the Head of the Ogunnusi Oloko Family and using unauthorized documents to sell portions of their ancestral land.
According to the family, checks at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) revealed that Mr. Ganiyu’s name does not appear among the registered trustees or principal officers of the Ogunnusi Oloko Family Association, which was duly incorporated in 2013.
The CAC record, the family said, identifies Elder Mumuni Oloko as the legitimate Head of the Family and one of the recognized trustees.
In an earlier petition to the Paramount Ruler of Ibeju Land, Oba Waliu Oniwolu, and now escalated to the Lagos State Government and security agencies, the family alleged that Mr. Ganiyu had been forging signatures of senior family members to authorize land transactions without their consent.
A formal resolution issued by the family association warned against all illegal and unapproved land sales, declaring that any individual found culpable would face prosecution. Despite repeated internal interventions, the family claimed the alleged activities had continued unabated.
The petition also revealed that Mr. Ganiyu recently petitioned the Lagos State Attorney-General against some family members in what the family described as an attempt to “legitimize disputed land sales and silence rightful trustees.”
Appealing to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the family urged the state government to intervene immediately to stop further sales, protect unsuspecting buyers, and preserve communal land ownership in Ibeju-Lekki — an area under growing pressure from rapid real estate development.
They also called on the police to launch a thorough investigation and ensure justice for all parties involved.
As of press time, Mr. Ganiyu had not responded to the allegations, and both Lagos State Government and Police authorities were yet to issue official statements on the matter.
