Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, presented a ₦1.016 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill before the Abia State House of Assembly, describing it as a financial blueprint designed to accelerate development and unlock new possibilities for residents across the state.
The budget tagged “Budget of Acceleration and New Possibilities” marks a 13% increase from the 2025 budget and prioritises capital expenditure, with ₦811.8 billion (80%) allocated to infrastructure, education, healthcare, energy, and economic expansion. Recurrent spending will take ₦204.4 billion (20%).
Speaking during the presentation, Governor Otti expressed gratitude to the Assembly for its collaboration and support since the inception of his administration, noting that governance in Abia has remained focused on transformational reforms rather than politics.
“This budget reflects our commitment to building a New Abia—one driven by infrastructure, innovation, security, and human capital development,” Otti said. “We are not just planning for the next fiscal year; we are building the future.”
