Trump Launches ‘FIFA Pass’ Fast-Track Visa Scheme For 2026 World Cup Visitors

President Donald Trump on Monday announced a special fast-track visa program for international fans holding tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup — but his administration cautioned that the scheme does not guarantee entry into the United States.

Speaking from the Oval Office alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Trump said the initiative, dubbed the “FIFA Pass,” aims to simplify travel for millions of visitors expected during next year’s global football spectacle.

“For those who intend to join us for the World Cup, I strongly encourage you to apply right away,” Trump said.

Infantino hailed the program as “a very important announcement,” explaining that ticket holders would be prioritized for visa interviews. “With between five and ten million people coming to America from around the world, this will help genuine football fans attend the tournament under the best conditions,” he added.

However, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that the FIFA Pass would only expedite the visa process — not guarantee entry. “Your ticket is not a visa,” Rubio stressed. “It guarantees you an expedited appointment, but you’ll still go through the same vetting.”

Under the plan, World Cup ticket holders could expect an interview within six to eight weeks, though Rubio advised applicants not to delay. “Don’t wait till the last minute,” he said.

Trump has positioned the 2026 World Cup — which coincides with America’s 250th Independence anniversary — as a hallmark event of his second term. However, the tournament’s preparations have been marked by political tension, with Trump hinting at moving matches from certain host cities over concerns about crime and migration.

The World Cup draw will be held in Washington, D.C., on December 5, the same day FIFA is set to unveil a new peace prize, which many speculate could be awarded to Trump.
