The life-changing event, held at the Dr. Alex Chioma Otti Auditorium, Ohafia Local Government Headquarters, attracted dignitaries, stakeholders, parents, and jubilant beneficiaries.

Addressing the audience, Hon. Osonwa expressed joy at seeing the first beneficiaries of his Tertiary Education Scholarship Programme, describing education as one of the strongest pillars for sustainable development.

“Education is very dear to me. I initiated this programme to give hope to brilliant students who could not pursue higher education due to financial constraints. You wrote the mock exams, excelled, sat for the JAMB, which I fully sponsored, and today, many of you are now admitted into reputable institutions. That is the spirit of excellence,” he said.

Representing the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, his father, Sir Martin Emetu, applauded the federal lawmaker, describing the scholarship initiative as “a practical demonstration of people-focused leadership.” He urged the beneficiaries to remain committed and avoid distractions as they prepare for life in higher institutions.

The atmosphere became emotional as some of the newly selected scholars shared personal stories of struggle and gratitude. One of them, Miss Eke Treasure Eke, fought back tears as she thanked Hon. Osonwa for giving her a second chance after years of missing scholarship opportunities.

“This is an opportunity I never believed would come. I am forever grateful. I pray for strength and success throughout my years in the university,” she said.

Parents of beneficiaries also expressed heartfelt appreciation. Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mrs. Kalu, mother of the second overall best candidate, described the scholarship as a blessing to families and evidence of genuine representation.

“This is the kind of representation we prayed for one that impacts lives directly. This gesture is unprecedented in our constituency. May God continue to strengthen and elevate you,” she stated.

The event was attended by notable leaders, including Hon. Mba Kalu Nwoke, represented by his Personal Assistant, Mr. Nnanna Mensah, as well as councillors from Arochukwu and Ohafia Local Government Areas.

With this programme, many described Hon. Osonwa’s initiative as a bold investment in the future, poised to inspire academic excellence and reshape the socioeconomic landscape of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.
