Soludo Wins 19 Out Of 21 LGAs In Anambra Polls, Awaits Final Two Results

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, is coasting to a historic victory after winning all 19 local government areas so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Saturday’s governorship election.

According to the results released by INEC, Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), maintained commanding leads across all the announced local governments, leaving his opponents trailing by wide margins.

The LGAs already declared include Dunukofia, Njikoka, Ogbaru, Awka North, Awka South, Orumba North, Orumba South, Aguata, and Ekwusigo. Others are Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ayamelum, and Anambra East.

With 21 local government areas in the state, only Ihiala and Anambra West are left to be announced. INEC officials have reportedly gone on a one-hour break and are expected to reconvene by 6 a.m. to conclude the collation exercise.

If the current trend continues, Prof. Soludo will clinch a second term in office, marking another milestone for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). His victory would make him the third consecutive APGA governor to lead the state after Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano — both of whom served two terms each.

Observers say Soludo’s apparent clean sweep underscores his party’s deep-rooted dominance in Anambra politics and voter confidence in his administration’s ongoing reforms and development agenda.
