President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his administration’s unwavering resolve to end terrorism and deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with global partners.
Speaking moments before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting went into a closed-door session on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, President Tinubu declared that his government is determined to advance security, stability, and economic growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
The FEC meeting, the first since July, comes amid global reactions following U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to list Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern — a move the Nigerian government has strongly rejected as a misrepresentation of the country’s security reality.
Tinubu, in his first public reaction to the designation, said Nigeria would continue to engage international allies constructively, stressing that collaboration, not confrontation, was the key to national progress.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy,” he stated.
The President urged members of his cabinet to remain steadfast and united in implementing his administration’s reform agenda, describing their efforts as crucial to sustaining peace and prosperity across the nation.
“The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” he added.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration remains focused on delivering tangible results, strengthening the nation’s economy, and ensuring lasting peace across all regions.
