The Founder and General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), HRM Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has announced a brand-new university scholarship scheme exclusively for female doctors, marking another milestone in the church’s 17-year record of humanitarian and educational interventions.
In a statement released on Thursday, November 6, 2025 and made available to ABN TV, Apostle Chibuzor revealed that the initiative, tagged “Special Scholarship for Female Doctors Only,” is designed to encourage more women to pursue careers in medicine and reduce the gender imbalance in the profession.
According to him, OPM has for years offered local and international scholarships in various disciplines such as Medicine, Nursing, Law, Engineering, and Mass Communication, producing graduates who are now successful professionals in different parts of the world.
The cleric outlined the benefits that make this program unique from previous ones:
1. Tuition fees will be fully funded by OPM.
2. Feeding will be provided throughout the duration of study.
3. Accommodation will be covered until graduation.
4. Beneficiaries will sign an undertaking to work at the OPM Free Specialist Hospital for one year after completing their housemanship, with a ₦500,000 monthly salary.
5. The scholarship applies strictly to the University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) and not to any other local or foreign institution.
Explaining the rationale behind the program, Apostle Chibuzor said it aims to attract more women into the medical field, noting that the number of female doctors remains low compared to their male counterparts.
“One of the reasons for this special female program is to attract more women into being doctors, because there are so many male doctors and very few female doctors,” he stated.
The OPM founder reaffirmed that all OPM scholarship programs both local and international are fully financed through tithes, offerings, and donations from the church.
Apostle Chibuzor, widely known for his philanthropic projects including free schools, hospitals, and skill acquisition centers, said the ministry remains committed to transforming lives through education and empowerment.
The new scholarship initiative has been widely praised as another step in Apostle Chibuzor’s mission to build a generation of empowered women and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
