President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains firmly committed to upholding religious freedom and ensuring the protection of all Nigerians, regardless of faith or background.
The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, made this known while reacting to the recent decision by former U.S. President Donald Trump to classify Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians at home and abroad to unite against such misrepresentation, describing it as misleading and contrary to the true situation in the country. She referenced statements earlier issued by President Tinubu and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, calling for calm and unity among Nigerians, especially those in the diaspora.
According to the NIDCOM boss, Nigeria remains a nation built on tolerance, diversity, and democratic values, stressing that the conspiracy theory portraying the country as one targeting Christians is false and does not reflect reality.
“Nigeria is not a country that persecutes Christians or any group. We are a people bound together by our shared values of coexistence and mutual respect,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.
She reaffirmed that President Tinubu is unwavering in his dedication to religious liberty, national unity, and the protection of every citizen’s right to freely practice their faith.
Dabiri-Erewa further appealed to Nigerians in the diaspora to continue to defend and project the true image of the country through positive engagement and factual representation of Nigeria’s diversity and resilience.
