ASUBEB Chairman Hails Otti’s Smart School Initiative, Says Teachers Are Ready To Make Abia Children Smarter (VIDEO)

The Executive Chairman of the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Mrs. Lydia Onuoha, has applauded Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his visionary leadership in transforming the education sector through the Smart School Initiative, describing him as “the smartest and most education-friendly governor in Nigeria.”

Mrs. Onuoha made this known in an exclusive interview with ABN TV shortly after the closing ceremony of the Abia Smart School Teachers Training Programme held in Umuahia.

According to her, the three-week intensive training has fully equipped over 100 teachers from across the state with the necessary digital and professional skills to manage smart schools and extend the knowledge gained to their colleagues in all the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State.

“Today is an epoch-making day in the lives of these teachers. For the past three weeks, they have undergone continuous capacity building to make our schools smarter. These teachers have proven that they earned their positions by merit, and they are now ready to lead the digital transformation of our classrooms,” she said.

The ASUBEB boss commended the Blue Giraffe Development Limited, partners in the Smart School project, for their professionalism, resilience, and result-oriented performance throughout the training. She noted that the company’s commitment to excellence has helped Abia State achieve another milestone in digital education.

Mrs. Onuoha also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the Smart School Steering Committee led by Sir Kenechukwu Nwosu, and the entire education team for their roles in ensuring the success of the training programme.

“This is just the beginning for us,” she emphasized. “We will not rest until all the 17 local government areas in Abia benefit from this Smart School initiative. We are solidly behind the governor’s vision and determined to make it work across the state.”

She assured that more Smart Schools will be rolled out before the end of the year, stressing that the board remains committed to supporting the Otti-led administration in repositioning Abia as a model state in digital learning.

While expressing gratitude, Mrs. Onuoha offered prayers for all stakeholders involved in the Smart School programme, including Governor Otti, the Blue Giraffe team, and the newly trained teachers.

The Abia Smart School Teachers Training Initiative is part of Governor Otti’s broader education reform agenda aimed at integrating technology into learning, improving teaching standards, and developing a new generation of digitally skilled educators across the state.
