Abia Govt Launches Statewide Road Safety Campaign, Warns Against Traffic Violations

The Abia State Government has launched a statewide road safety campaign aimed at curbing road crashes and promoting responsible driving culture among motorists.

Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, who announced the initiative after the State Executive Council meeting, said the campaign is tagged “Road Safety is a Shared Responsibility, A Drive to Arrive.”

He disclosed that the program will be jointly executed by the Ministry of Transport, the Harmonised Task Force, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Kanu cautioned motorists against violating traffic laws, warning that no driver—regardless of social status—will be spared if found wanting.

He further emphasized that Governor Alex Otti himself obeys traffic rules, even with his convoy, underscoring the administration’s commitment to leading by example.

The campaign, he said, seeks to promote safety consciousness and mutual respect on the road, thereby reducing accidents and loss of lives across Abia State.
