The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally welcomed back Chief Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu, former Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, into the party, describing his return as a major boost to its political strength and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by the acting State Publicity Secretary, Prince Ifeanyi Igwe Esq., the APC State Working Committee expressed excitement over Kalu’s return, noting that he remains a respected political leader and a founding stalwart of the APC in Abia since 2014.

“Chief Kalu, a political titan and proven public servant, brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the growth and development of Abia State,” the statement read.

Speaking during the welcome ceremony at the party secretariat in Umuahia, Abia APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, lauded Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu for rejoining the party and expressed confidence that his homecoming would energize the party’s efforts to reposition itself ahead of 2027.

“We are excited to welcome back home Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu into our team. His return signals a new chapter of strength, unity, and purposeful leadership within our party,” Dr. Ononogbu stated.

The event, which drew enthusiastic party stakeholders, was attended by the APC Bende Local Government Chairman, ward chairmen, and members of the State Working Committee.

The statement noted that Kalu’s return aligns with the broader vision of consolidating the party’s grassroots appeal and advancing the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the state.

“Chief Kalu’s homecoming is a testament to the APC’s commitment to building a strong and united team. We look forward to working with him to take the reins of governance in Abia State,” the release added.
