“Telling People To Hug Transformers Isn’t Leadership” – Sir Chikwe Udensi Demands Respect, Humility In Governance

Renowned security expert and political figure, Sir Chikwe Udensi, has issued a stern rebuke against what he described as growing arrogance and condescension in the conduct of public officials, particularly in Abia State.

His remarks come amid public discourse on transparency and accountability in governance.

In an exclusive interview with ABN TV, Sir Udensi condemned the dismissive rhetoric allegedly used by some government actors in response to citizens’ calls for accountability. Citing a recent controversial comment reportedly advising critics to “go and hug transformers,” he stated that such language was unbecoming of leaders entrusted with public trust.

“Telling people to hug transformers isn’t leadership,” Udensi said. “It is not only insulting but also shows a dangerous lack of humility. Leaders must be accessible, respectful, and accountable to the people who elected them.”

Sir Udensi emphasized that leadership, especially in a democratic setting, requires empathy and respect. According to him, public service should not be reduced to a platform for personal aggrandizement or retaliatory rhetoric.

He called on elected officials to focus on delivering measurable results and answering questions raised by the electorate rather than “resorting to arrogance and name-calling.”

Udensi further warned that continued use of derogatory language by public officials could erode the fragile trust between the government and the governed. He urged those in power to cultivate a culture of humility, factual communication, and openness in all government dealings.

“When people demand clarity on how public funds are used, they’re not being enemies of the government. They’re citizens exercising their rights. A responsible government responds with facts, not fury,” he noted.

Sir Udensi concluded by reminding leaders that history only remembers those who lead with dignity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to serve — not those who rule with impunity or arrogance.
