Benue Speaker Aondona Dajoh Resigns, Cites Peace, State Interest

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh, has resigned from his position.

In a handwritten letter dated 24th August 2025, addressed to the Clerk of the House and shared on his official Facebook page with the caption “Let there be peace”, Dajoh formally stepped down from the role.

He explained that his decision to resign was taken “in good faith and in the best interest of the state.” The lawmaker, who represents Gboko West State Constituency, expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him by allowing him to serve as “the first among equals.”

Dajoh further pledged to remain committed to his responsibilities as a legislator, assuring his constituents of continuous representation despite leaving the leadership position.

His resignation brings an end to his tenure as Speaker, though he will continue to serve as a member of the Benue State House of Assembly.
