The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) today celebrated its 33rd anniversary with a renewed commitment to professionalism, local content development, and Nigeria’s digital broadcasting transition.
In a statement, the Director-General of NBC, Charles Ebuebu, said the anniversary is not just about numbers but about the values of integrity, service, and professionalism that have sustained the Commission since its establishment.
He recalled the Commission’s journey from the days of analogue transmissions to the present digital era, stressing that NBC has remained central to ensuring broadcasting serves as a tool for education, information, and national unity.
Looking ahead, Ebuebu highlighted key priorities for the Commission, including the success of the Digital Switchover project, strengthening Nigerian content on the airwaves, combating misinformation, and deploying AI-driven monitoring tools to meet global standards.
He also called for greater collaboration among broadcasters, regulators, and stakeholders, describing broadcasting as a shared responsibility in nation-building.
“Every station, every producer, every regulator, and every viewer or listener is a custodian of our collective narrative,” he said.
The NBC boss urged the industry to embrace innovation and uphold responsible broadcasting, assuring that the Commission will continue to guide the sector towards a vibrant and globally competitive future.
