The Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its newly appointed assistant coach, Akin Olowokere, who slumped during a training session on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode, where the Oluyole Warriors were holding preparations ahead of their Matchday 2 clash in the ongoing ValueJet Cup 2025.
Olowokere, a former player and coach of Sunshine Stars, reportedly collapsed during a match, prompting immediate medical attention. He was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful.
The respected tactician was one of the coaches recently brought into the 3SC technical crew following the club’s decision to part ways with the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching team.
Olowokere’s death comes as a huge blow to the Nigerian football community, with tributes already pouring in from fans, colleagues, and football stakeholders across the country.
