Boko Haram Terrorists Neutralised By Troops In Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), under the command of Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, have eliminated scores of Boko Haram fighters during a series of successful military operations in Konduga, Bama, and Gwoza Local Government Areas of Borno State.

The latest operations come amid heightened efforts to secure key areas in the North East, including the thwarting of an attempted attack by terrorists aiming to plant Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on a major bridge connecting Marte and Dikwa Local Government Areas.

This renewed offensive follows last week’s major success, in which troops killed a notorious Boko Haram commander, Ibn Khalid, along with 17 other fighters during raids in remote parts of Bitta, Gwoza LGA. Several arms, ammunition, and logistical supplies were also recovered in that operation.

In a press release issued Wednesday by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Headquarters North East OPHK, he confirmed that the latest engagements were in line with orders from the military high command to maintain aggressive pressure on terrorist elements.

“Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, supported by the Air Component, have continued to carry out ambushes and fighting patrols across the Northeast,” the statement read. “Recent operations resulted in the neutralization of nine terrorists and the recovery of AK-47 rifles and PKT machine guns in the Konduga, Bama, and Gwoza areas.”

Captain Kovangiya also revealed that troops foiled an attempt to plant IEDs on the Marte–Dikwa bridge. Following a brief firefight, two heavy IEDs and associated equipment were recovered from the fleeing terrorists.

“These sustained operations reflect OPHK’s commitment to denying insurgents freedom of movement and disrupting their activities,” he added.

The military has called on the public to continue supporting the troops and other security agencies by sharing timely information on suspicious activities or movements linked to Boko Haram or ISWAP elements.
