Woman Dies In Moving Tricycle In Aba, Identity Unknown (Photos + Video)

Tragedy struck Tuesday morning in Aba, Abia State, as an unidentified woman reportedly died while aboard a commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) en route to Railway Junction before Ezeukwu Road.

The incident occurred along the Umungasi axis, near Tonimas Filling Station and close to Abia State Polytechnic. The situation caused panic as residents gathered to witness the shocking scene and attempt to identify the deceased.

The tricycle operator, identified as Okechukwu, recounted the incident to newsmen.

He said, “My route is Aba–Owerri Road. The woman stopped my Keke and told me she was going to the Railway, so I picked her up. When I stopped at Stanbic Bank, a man approached and said he was going to the Park. As he was about to enter the Keke, he suddenly ran back and shouted, ‘Driver, the woman at the back doesn’t look good. Are you sure she’s alive?’ That was when I turned back and noticed she was no longer breathing. I raised an alarm, and people rushed in to check if they could recognize her.”

In a further attempt to identify the woman, bystanders searched her belongings and found a mobile phone with a dead battery. To trace her identity, good-spirited individuals removed her SIM card and inserted it into another phone. Her phone number was identified as +2348066127524.

Members of the public are kindly urged to dial the number or share any useful information that could help in identifying the deceased woman and contacting her relatives.

As at press time, the cause of her death remains unknown, and no official statement has been made by the Abia State Police Command. Efforts by ABN TV to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) proved abortive.

The body remains at the scene as authorities are expected to arrive for a proper investigation. Residents and commuters are encouraged to visit the Umungasi area if they may be able to assist in identifying her.
