Bayern Munich have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Liverpool winger Luis Diaz for £65.5 million, according to multiple sources on Sunday.
The German champions had an initial bid of £59 million rejected by Liverpool last week, but their improved offer now appears to have sealed the deal for the Colombian international, who is expected to undergo a medical soon. Diaz has been granted permission to leave Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Asia to finalize the transfer.
Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 and has since won the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup during his time at Anfield. The 28-year-old made 50 appearances and scored 17 goals across all competitions last season, helping Liverpool clinch their first league title in five years under new manager Arne Slot.
He was absent from Liverpool’s 4-2 friendly defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, fuelling speculation about his future. Addressing the rumours, Slot said: “There’s been a lot of talk around Lucho lately. He’s been training well, but we decided not to play him for now. I regularly speak with my players, but I can’t say much more at this stage.”
Diaz is expected to fill the void left by Bayern star Jamal Musiala, who has been sidelined for an extended period after suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle during the Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been active in the transfer market, securing major signings such as Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike. Defensive reinforcements Jeremie Frimpong (from Leverkusen) and Milos Kerkez (from Bournemouth) have also joined, along with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Reports also suggest Liverpool are eyeing a big-money move for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, who is valued at £150 million.
