Victor Osimhen has agreed to forgo €5 million of the €16 million salary he was due to receive from Galatasaray this season, asking that this amount be added to his transfer fee, according to Di Marzio.
The forward showed visible emotion and relief after Galatasaray and Napoli reached a deal involving a €40 million initial payment, with a further €35 million to be paid within the next year.
The transfer agreement also includes a 10% share of future profits and a performance-based bonus tied to Osimhen’s goal tally.
With this move, Osimhen becomes the most expensive player in the history of Turkish football.
Galatasaray’s head coach, Okan Buruk, told BeIN SPORTS: “If Victor didn’t have genuine love for Galatasaray, he might have explored other options. In moments when he felt discouraged, I kept in touch and lifted his spirits. Now, we’re at the final stage of the transfer.”
Osimhen is expected to return to Turkey to sign his contract on Friday or Saturday, with Galatasaray planning an official unveiling at RAMS Park Stadium.
In related news, Osimhen’s actual earnings from the new deal will surpass the reported €18 million annual salary.
During his season-long loan at Galatasaray, he earned €12 million.
Turkish journalist Razim Ozan Kutahyal revealed that Osimhen could earn up to €30 million per year once salary, sponsorship deals, and image rights are combined.
Kutahyal also noted that the Turkish government is offering tax incentives to football clubs like Galatasaray to help facilitate such high-profile signings.
