Renowned entrepreneur and media mogul, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, has been honoured with the prestigious Pillar of the Youth Award by the youths of Ohuhu-Umuahia in recognition of his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots development.
The honour, also known as the Ikoro Award, was presented to Mayor Igbokwe on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, during a colourful ceremony led by the Ohuhu Youth President, Chief Uchenna Gavin Iheanacho.

Speaking during the presentation, Chief Iheanacho extolled the philanthropic exploits of Mayor Igbokwe, noting that his initiatives have positively transformed the lives of countless young people in Ohuhuland and beyond.
“Mayor Lucky Igbokwe is not just a beacon of hope; he is a true pillar of the youth. From founding the first-ever radio stations in Ohuhu—Ikoro 93.3 FM and Don 103.7 FM—to funding scholarships, building homes for indigent youths, and supporting small businesses, his legacy is written in bold,” Iheanacho said.
Beyond his contributions to media and empowerment, Igbokwe was also lauded for his support for local talents, especially in the entertainment industry.
In a symbolic moment during the event, the Ohuhu youths also presented an honorary award to Nigerian music icon, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, for his pivotal role in reviving the career of highlife legend and Ohuhu native, Bright Chimezie. The award, which was initially scheduled for Mayor Igbokwe’s birthday concert, was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. The youths requested Mayor Igbokwe to deliver the award to Davido on their behalf.
Responding to the honours, an elated Mayor Igbokwe expressed deep gratitude to the Ohuhu youths, describing the award as both humbling and inspiring.
“I am truly honoured to receive this recognition from my own people. This means a lot to me. I remain committed to the cause of youth development, and I assure you all that I will not relent,” he said.
He also pledged to ensure the safe delivery of the honorary award to Davido, describing the artiste as a “true friend of Ohuhuland.”
The event was attended by youth leaders, community stakeholders, and media representatives, all of whom paid glowing tributes to Mayor Igbokwe’s contributions to the socio-economic upliftment of the region.
