The Abia State government has postponed the official launch of the Abia State Integrated Wash Accelerated Programme (AIWAP) and the flag-off of the rehabilitation of the Aba regional water scheme, which were originally scheduled for today.
According to a statement from the state government, the postponement is due to the federal public holiday declared in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, whose burial is set for today.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, announced the change in a midnight press release, stating that the launch and flag-off will now take place tomorrow, Wednesday.
The government expressed regret for any inconvenience the postponement may cause to the public.
In response to Buhari’s passing, Governor Alex Otti described the news as “sad.”
