FG Declares July 15 Public Holiday To Honour Late Buhari

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The announcement comes shortly after the news of Buhari’s passing in a London clinic at the age of 82. The decision to observe a public holiday is aimed at allowing Nigerians to pay their last respects and reflect on the legacy of the former military ruler and two-term civilian president.

Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s civilian president from 2015 to 2023 and as military Head of State from 1983 to 1985, was widely known for his anti-corruption stance and firm leadership style.
