Four clubs have already guaranteed their places in the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup, despite the fact that the 2025 final has not yet been played.
Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are set to clash this Sunday in the first final under the Club World Cup’s new expanded format. Previously held annually, the competition will now be staged every four years, aligning with the schedule of major international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship.
Despite the 2029 tournament being four years away, four teams have already earned their places through recent continental triumphs.
Paris Saint-Germain qualified by dominating Inter Milan 5–0 in the 2025 UEFA Champions League final—setting a record for the biggest win margin in the tournament’s history.
They’ll be joined by Mexico’s Cruz Azul, who booked their ticket by winning the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup. Egypt’s Pyramids FC also qualified after their victory in the CAF Champions League, while Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli clinched their place by triumphing in the AFC Champions League Elite.
The 2029 Club World Cup will feature 32 teams representing all six football confederations, along with one team from the host nation—which has yet to be announced.
