Sir Chikwe Udensi Advocates Global Community Policing Models During Strategic Engagements In Canada, U.S. (Photos)

Interpol systems consultant and internationally renowned security expert, Sir Chikwe Udensi, has advanced global discussions on effective community-based policing following his recent strategic engagements in Canada and the United States.

During a stop in Calgary, Alberta, Sir Udensi attended the Rotary Club Annual Convention, where he was warmly received by the Canadian chapter of the Arochukwu community. Describing the reception as “heartwarming,” he recalled being received at the airport by Engineer Nwabueze Ekubo, His Royal Highness Eze Onuoha (Eze of Aro Awa), and other respected community members.

His visit to Canada was part of a broader international mission focused on studying grassroots security systems and exploring how diaspora communities can support local safety efforts.

Following his engagements in Calgary, Sir Udensi traveled to the United States, where he held high-level security consultations in Bowie, Maryland. His meetings involved critical discussions with the Mayor of Bowie, the County Police Chief, the County Sheriff, and Councilwomen Roxy and Wala, as he sought to deepen his understanding of the American model of community policing.

“These are wonderful, committed public servants,” Sir Udensi said. “I met with them to deeply understand how community policing projects function in America.”

He highlighted the efficiency of the U.S. county policing system, drawing parallels to the borough policing model in the United Kingdom, which he had studied extensively. According to him, both systems underscore the importance of locally-driven policing initiatives that enable communities to actively collaborate with law enforcement agencies.

“It is absolutely clear that what works around the world is community-driven security,” Sir Udensi emphasized. “Whether it is counties in the U.S. or boroughs in the UK, these systems empower local populations to collaborate with law enforcement. The people know their communities, they know the hideouts, they know the threats.”

He further stressed that community engagement, local intelligence, and trust-building are central pillars of successful security systems, adding that Nigeria and other nations can draw valuable lessons from these approaches.

In recognition of his contributions to global security advocacy, Sir Udensi was honored by local officials in Bowie and presented with the Medal of Honour of the City at the Hall of Honours, a gesture he described as “memorable and deeply appreciated.”

Sir Chikwe Udensi’s international engagements continue to position him as a leading voice in the global campaign for sustainable, people-driven security frameworks, especially at a time when nations are increasingly in need of community-based solutions to combat crime and foster peace.
