The Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has called on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to embrace their service year with unwavering commitment and integrity, urging them to make lasting impacts in their host communities.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream II orientation course at the NYSC permanent camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai LGA, Ibas—represented by the Secretary to the State Government and NYSC State Governing Board Chairman, Ibibia Worika—commended the corps members for their discipline and full participation during the orientation.
“The commendable conduct you’ve shown so far must continue throughout your service year,” Ibas said. “Remember, you owe this nation a duty to serve selflessly and to leave behind legacies that will benefit your host communities.”
He emphasized the importance of respecting local traditions and warned against actions that could damage the image of the NYSC scheme.
In his farewell message, NYSC Rivers State Coordinator Moses Oleghe encouraged the 2,302 corps members—comprising 931 males and 1,371 females—to make the most of their service year.
“This is your chance to explore your passion, sharpen your skills, and make a difference,” Oleghe said. “Let the service year be a time of growth, contribution, and inspiration.”
The ceremony marked the end of a rigorous orientation program designed to prepare corps members for the challenges and opportunities of national service across Rivers State.
