Students at The Polytechnic in Ibadan, Oyo State, are currently demonstrating against the recent change of their school’s name to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic.

The demonstration has caused significant disruption, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded along the busy Sango-Eleyele Road in Ibadan.

The renaming was carried out by Governor Seyi Makinde in honour of the late Omololu Olunloyo, a former governor of Oyo State who passed away at the age of 89. Olunloyo was notably the first Ibadan indigene to serve as governor of the old Oyo State.
