NNPC Alleges Sabotage Attacks Amid Ongoing Reforms

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has raised the alarm over what it describes as a coordinated campaign of sabotage aimed at discrediting its leadership and derailing ongoing institutional reforms.

In a statement released on Friday, the company said the campaign is being orchestrated by a syndicate of both known and anonymous individuals operating within and outside the organization.

According to NNPC Ltd., the group is deliberately spreading falsehoods and misinformation in an attempt to undermine its transformation into a transparent, accountable, and performance-driven energy company, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s reform mandate.

“These actors are engaged in planting fabricated and scandalous reports designed to distract the leadership, mislead the public, and demoralize our committed workforce, as well as reform-oriented Nigerians,” the statement read.

NNPC Ltd. described the campaign as a desperate move by those opposed to change, transparency, and accountability, emphasizing that such tactics will not deter the company’s reform agenda.

“These are calculated efforts by individuals who feel threatened by our commitment to reform. It is clear how far they are willing to go to obstruct the transformation of Nigeria’s leading energy institution,” the company stated.

Anticipating an increase in smear campaigns in the coming weeks, NNPC Ltd. affirmed its resolve to stay the course.

“We expect a surge in defamatory content, but NNPC Ltd. remains undeterred. The transformation is in motion, and no level of sabotage will halt it.”

The company called on its staff, partners, and all patriotic Nigerians to remain focused and not be swayed by distractions, reiterating its commitment to delivering a transparent and efficient national energy sector.
