Kylian Mbappe has formally accused his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), of “moral harassment,” according to the Paris prosecutor’s office, which confirmed on Thursday that an investigation has been opened following the legal filing.
The France national team captain is also engaged in a separate legal dispute with the club, seeking to recover €55 million ($64.4 million) in unpaid wages and bonuses he claims are owed to him.
Mbappe’s latest complaint centers on his treatment during the start of the 2023–24 season, when he was forced to train apart from the main squad alongside players PSG was attempting to offload. He alleges that this sidelining was a direct consequence of his refusal to sign a contract extension with the club.
This type of exclusionary practice has reportedly affected other players as well, prompting the French players’ union to file a complaint last year.
Mbappe was notably left out of PSG’s pre-season tour of Asia in 2023 and missed the first match of the season. However, he was later reinstated into the first team following discussions with club officials.
The 26-year-old left PSG last summer to join Real Madrid after seven seasons with the Parisian side. He scored an impressive 256 goals in 308 appearances for the club.
Ironically, PSG went on to win their first-ever UEFA Champions League title just months after Mbappé’s departure.
