China on Tuesday condemned former U.S. President Donald Trump for exacerbating the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, accusing him of “pouring oil on the fire” after he urged residents of Tehran to “immediately evacuate.”
The warning came in the wake of Israel’s surprise aerial assault last week on multiple targets across Iran, which it claims is a preemptive move to halt Iran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons—an accusation Tehran denies.
The sudden surge in hostilities has heightened fears of a broader regional war. Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, not only urged Iran to return to nuclear negotiations but also issued a stark warning: “Everyone should immediately evacuate!”
Reacting to Trump’s comments, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stated, “Fanning the flames, pouring oil, making threats, and applying pressure will not ease tensions; it will only worsen and expand the conflict.” He called on all relevant parties, especially those with strong influence over Israel, to take responsibility and work to de-escalate the crisis.
Amid the mounting conflict, China’s embassy in Israel issued an advisory urging Chinese nationals to leave the country “as soon as possible,” recommending they exit through land borders if they can do so safely—preferably via Jordan.
“The Chinese mission in Israel reminds Chinese nationals to leave the country as soon as possible via land border crossings, provided personal safety can be ensured,” the embassy said in a statement posted on WeChat. “The situation continues to escalate,” it warned.
