The Tinted Glass Permit requirement has been extended by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, who has set a new deadline of August 12, 2025.

This development was announced by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, who explained that the decision came in response to widespread public feedback regarding the revival of the digital application process for the permit.

“In our ongoing effort to uphold transparent, inclusive, and citizen-orientated policing, the Nigeria Police Force wants to make it clear that public concerns have not been ignored,” Adejobi stated.

“On the contrary, the input from Nigerians has been crucial in shaping ongoing improvements to ensure the process is secure, user-friendly, and accessible to everyone.”

He added that the enforcement delay is intended to allow more time to implement enhancements and fine-tune the application system so that no citizen faces unnecessary hardship in complying.

The police are currently working to make both in-person and online application methods easier to navigate. This includes improving the verification systems and simplifying the steps involved to reduce waiting times and prevent avoidable frustrations.

The public is reminded that the official portal for applying for or renewing the Tinted Glass Permit is http://www.possap.gov.ng.

Citizens are also urged to report any unofficial charges, hidden fees, or acts of extortion encountered during the application or biometric capturing process. Reports can be made to the appropriate police authorities or through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its dedication to public safety, the use of digital tools to improve service, and its continuous reform agenda. The Force thanked Nigerians for their patience and cooperation as these changes are being implemented.
