A protest has broken out in the Federal Capital Territory as citizens gather to voice their frustration over increasing economic hardship and worsening insecurity across the country.
Ahead of the demonstration, security agencies had deployed heavily armed personnel to key areas throughout Abuja. Strategic locations, including major junctions and the National Assembly, were under heightened surveillance as authorities anticipated possible protest activities.
Despite the show of force, demonstrators proceeded with their protest, which began in the Apo area of the capital. Coinciding with Nigeria’s Democracy Day, the protest saw participants chanting solidarity songs and waving placards to express their discontent with the current state of affairs.
The presence of security operatives remained particularly heavy at locations considered potential flashpoints, but protesters appeared undeterred as they continued to voice their demands for improved living conditions and greater security.
