French forward Antoine Griezmann has signed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2027, the Spanish side announced on Monday.
Griezmann, 34, is Atletico’s all-time leading goalscorer with 197 goals across two spells. His previous deal was set to expire in 2026. Despite a dip in form this year—his last goal coming in February 2025—he remains a key figure in Diego Simeone’s squad, which finished third in La Liga this season without a trophy.
The 2018 World Cup winner, who scored in France’s final victory over Croatia, first joined Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014. He won the Europa League in 2018 and reached two Champions League finals with the club.
After an underwhelming stint at Barcelona, where he managed just one major trophy—the Copa del Rey—Griezmann returned to Atletico in 2021 on loan before making the move permanent.
Griezmann, who retired from international football in 2024, is set to feature for Atletico at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States this summer, with their opening match against Paris Saint-Germain on June 15.
