The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra has firmly rejected any plans for political coalitions with other parties, advising its members and stakeholders to avoid such alliances.
This announcement was made in a communique issued following an enlarged State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting.
The statement, signed by the PDP Chairman in Anambra, Chidi Chidebe, clarified that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) was not engaged in any coalition talks with other political groups, and as such, the PDP in Anambra was not involved in any coalition discussions either.
The communique further emphasized that party members should remain steadfast and resolute in their support for the national leadership, including the Board of Trustees, PDP Governors’ Forum, and other key figures working to reposition the party.
“We strongly advise our members and stakeholders to steer clear of such activities, as they lack legitimacy, approval, or endorsement from the leadership of the party at both the state and national levels.”
Drawing on a popular saying, the party reiterated its commitment to the values of unity, loyalty, and focus, despite any internal challenges.
“No man abandons his house because of weed; we continue to pray that any man or woman raised and nurtured by this party whose intention is now to destroy it shall be put to shame.”
The PDP in Anambra expressed solidarity with party leaders, including Senator Ben Ndi Obi, the Southeast Zonal Leader, Governor Peter Mba, and the national leadership, commending their efforts to restore peace, unity, and the PDP’s position as “the true hope of the Nigerian people”.
The party also warned members against engaging in unauthorized political gatherings or coalition meetings, stressing that participation in such events would be considered anti-party activity.
“Any state, local government, or ward officer whose name is enlisted or associated with any unauthorized coalition group will be deemed to have exited the party. Consequently, any office such an individual occupies shall be declared vacant with immediate effect.”
The communique concluded by reaffirming the PDP SEC’s commitment to maintaining party discipline and unity, urging members to remain loyal, vigilant, and focused as the party works toward rejuvenation and success.
