The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has scheduled its chairmanship primaries for Friday, ahead of the July 12 local government elections in the state.
LP State Chairman Pastor Dayo Ekong made the announcement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.
Ekong explained that the primaries for chairmanship candidates would be conducted across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) using an indirect (delegate-based) system.
“Our councillorship primaries are taking place today (Thursday) across all wards, while the chairmanship primaries will be held on Friday in all LGAs,” she said.
“We are committed to conducting free, fair, and transparent primaries, and we remain confident of a strong performance in the upcoming elections.”
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) is set to oversee the elections in 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) across the state.
