Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested four suspected terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons during a raid in the Tau area of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, Taraba State.
The operation was launched following a distress call about the movement of armed men in the area. According to a statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, troops responded swiftly and tactically, leading to the successful arrest of the suspects. Three of the four individuals were found in possession of firearms.
Recovered items include two pump-action rifles, one locally made gun, three cutlasses, 42 cartridges, four mobile phones, and one national identity card.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects may have been invited by a man identified as Alhaji Ardo Sani, whose involvement is currently under investigation.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops for their prompt and professional response. He reiterated the army’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in Taraba State and surrounding areas.
He also urged the public to continue supporting security operations by providing timely and credible information to help strengthen safety efforts across the state.
