Israeli Airstrikes Kill 11 in Gaza, Including 8 From One Family

At least 11 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza on Wednesday, according to the territory’s civil defence agency, as Israel pushes forward with plans to expand its military offensive.

Among the dead were eight members of the Al-Qidra family, including a child, who were killed in a strike on their home in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. Civil defence spokesperson Mahmud Bassal said the victims ranged in age from two to 54 years old, with 12 others injured in the same incident.

Another airstrike hit a residential building in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, killing three people and injuring eight more, Bassal added.

The Israeli military has not commented on the latest strikes. The attacks come amid growing international criticism of Israel’s ongoing military campaign, which a government official recently described as aiming for the “conquest” of Gaza. On Tuesday, Israel’s far-right finance minister called for Gaza to be “entirely destroyed.”

Israel resumed its offensive on March 18 after a two-month truce in its war against Hamas, which began following the group’s October 2023 attack. According to Gaza’s health ministry, at least 2,507 people have been killed since hostilities resumed, raising the total death toll in Gaza to 52,615.

Hamas’s October assault on southern Israel left 1,218 people dead, mostly civilians, according to figures compiled by AFP from Israeli sources. Militants also took 251 hostages, of whom 58 remain in Gaza—34 confirmed dead by the Israeli military.

On Tuesday, Hamas declared it would no longer engage in ceasefire talks, accusing Israel of using starvation as a weapon amid ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid. The United Nations continues to warn of a looming famine and deepening humanitarian crisis due to the Israeli blockade.
