Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for championing labour reforms and implementing policies aimed at creating safer, healthier work environments across the country.
In a Workers’ Day message delivered through his chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara praised the resilience, dedication, and professionalism of Rivers State workers, especially in the face of ongoing political instability and challenges to democratic governance in the state.
This year’s Workers’ Day theme, “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,” was described by Fubara as a timely call to protect workers from escalating environmental and socio-political threats.
“The commitment of our workforce remains the backbone of our development and a beacon of hope for a brighter future,” the statement read. He further noted that the federal government, under President Tinubu’s leadership, has made significant strides in labour reforms and in promoting climate-conscious workplace policies.
Fubara acknowledged the sacrifices made by Rivers workers amid the state’s turbulent political landscape, lauding their integrity and patriotism. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving workers’ welfare and urged both public and private employers to uphold labor laws and respect workers’ rights and dignity.
Calling for continued enhancements in workplace conditions, Fubara also prayed for wisdom and guidance for national and state leaders, pledging to sustain efforts to build a work environment anchored in dignity, opportunity, and prosperity.
He concluded by encouraging Rivers people to remain hopeful and united, expressing faith that justice, peace, and progress will ultimately prevail.
