AWKA, NIGERIA — The Methodist Bishop of the Diocese of Awka, Rt. Rev. Moses Nwakanma, has praised Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his focused leadership, urging individuals with little to contribute to Anambra’s development to withdraw from the forthcoming November 8 governorship election.
Bishop Nwakanma gave the commendation on Tuesday during his address at the 3rd Annual Diocesan Synod held at Christ Methodist Church, Nkpor, in Idemili North Local Government Area.
“The gubernatorial election in Anambra State is around the corner. I advise all those who do not have anything to offer to this state to rest and support those who have the mandate to move Anambra to enviable heights,” he said.
The clergyman lauded Governor Soludo’s achievements, citing the establishment of the “Udo Gachi” security outfit, extensive road construction across the state, and consistent payment of workers’ salaries as key indicators of effective governance.
“Let me commend the Anambra State Governor for being focused on his quest to make Anambra State a secured and clean environment,” he added.
Rt. Rev. Nwakanma noted that the current administration has made tangible strides that should not be overlooked, affirming that Soludo’s government “is doing well.”
In his broader message to the Synod, the Bishop expressed satisfaction with the growth and development of the Methodist Church in the state over the past year, describing it as a period of spiritual and structural progress.
“To the glory of God, we have all laboured to bring the Diocese to where it is today as we are having the third synod,” he stated. “If one remembers how we started and where we are today… we can boldly declare that we are excelling in grace.”
As the governorship election draws nearer, the Bishop’s remarks underscore growing calls for political aspirants in Anambra to demonstrate genuine capacity and purpose in their ambitions for leadership.
