The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has appointed Sam Ifeanyi Hart, Esq., as his new Chief of Staff (CoS), following the elevation of Hon. Toby Okechukwu to the position of Executive Director, Projects of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).
Hart, a seasoned administrator and policy expert, previously served as Special Adviser to the Deputy Speaker on Public Affairs. His career spans law, leadership, and public service, with significant experience in governance and strategic management. From 2019 to 2023, he was the Director-General of the Abia State Marketing and Quality Management Agency, among other key government roles.
A scholar and lifelong learner, Hart holds multiple academic qualifications, including a Master’s Degree in Environmental Law (LLM) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from Abia State University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Law. Additionally, he has attended elite leadership institutions, such as the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), the GOTNI Leadership Centre, and the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG).
Hart’s professional affiliations include membership in the Chartered Institute of Directors of Nigeria (M.IoD), the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (ACIArb), and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). His extensive experience in policy formulation and governance is expected to enhance the Deputy Speaker’s legislative agenda.
In his new role, Hart will provide strategic counsel and administrative oversight to support the Deputy Speaker’s legislative activities, ensuring the effective execution of policy initiatives and the promotion of good governance.
