Hon. Amobi Ogah, the Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, has raised an alarm over the activities of fraudsters who are impersonating him on Facebook and other social media platforms to perpetrate recruitment scams.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the federal lawmaker categorically disassociated himself from any ongoing recruitment exercise, warning the public against falling victim to these scammers. He stated that the fraudsters were deceitfully using his name to solicit money and personal details from unsuspecting individuals with the false promise of securing them jobs.
“I want to categorically state that I am not conducting any recruitment exercise, nor have I authorized anyone to do so on my behalf. These fraudulent activities are a deliberate attempt to tarnish my reputation and defraud innocent citizens,” Hon. Ogah declared.
He further clarified that he has only one official Facebook account, which is properly verified and accessible to the public. He urged the public to be cautious and disregard any other accounts claiming to represent him or offering job opportunities in his name.
Hon. Ogah called on his constituents and Nigerians at large to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. He reassured the public of his unwavering commitment to transparency, integrity, and the development of the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.
He emphasized, “My commitment to serving you with transparency and integrity remains unwavering, and I will continue to work diligently for the development of our constituency.”
The lawmaker urged security agencies to track and apprehend those behind these fraudulent activities to prevent further exploitation of innocent citizens.
