The family of Sir Nna Anya Okoro (KSC) has announced plans for the final farewell to their beloved patriarch, who passed away at the age of 78. Known for his outstanding contributions to education, community development, and faith, Sir Okoro will be laid to rest in his hometown of Elu Ohafia, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

Burial Arrangements:

  • Wednesday, 18th December 2024
    • 4:00 PM: All Night Vigil at his residence, No. 11 Amuke Road, Elu Ohafia.
  • Thursday, 19th December 2024
    • 6:30 AM: Commendation Service at All Saints Anglican Church, World Bank Housing Estate, Umuahia.
    • 8:30 AM: Body leaves Umuahia to Ndi-Imaga Compound, Elu Ohafia, for a brief stopover.
    • 9:00 AM: Body arrives at his residence, No. 11 Amuke Road, Elu Ohafia, for lying in state.
    • 10:00 AM: Funeral Service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Elu Ohafia, followed by interment at his residence.

A Life of Service and Dedication:

Born 78 years ago to Okoro Ukpai Imo Imaga and Mama Nwannediya Okoro Ukpai in Elu Ohafia, Sir Nna Anya Okoro distinguished himself as a scholar, earning a degree in Soil Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1985. He served diligently as a civil servant, rising through the ranks in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture until his retirement in 2009.

A devoted Christian, Sir Okoro played a pivotal role in the Anglican Church, including co-founding All Saints Anglican Church, Umuahia. He was honored with the prestigious title of Knight of Saint Christopher in 2007 for his service to the church and community.

Contributions to Community Development:

Sir Nna Anya Okoro was a natural leader who held numerous positions, including National President of the Ebiri Age Grade and Secretary-General of the Elu Development Union. His initiatives, such as the establishment of cooperative societies, palm plantations, and Collins Memorial College Ohafia, reflect his commitment to the development of his community.

An advocate for youth empowerment, Sir Okoro mentored many through his teaching career and sports involvement, particularly as a Chess Master and athletic coach.

Sir Nna Anya was married to Lady Nkaku Elizabeth Anya Okoro, and together they raised a family rooted in love, faith, and education. His legacy as a man of integrity, service, and faith continues to inspire those who knew him.
