Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina Makes History At Miss Universe 2024

In a stunning upset, Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina secured the first runner-up spot at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant, held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. This marks a historic achievement for Nigeria in the prestigious competition.

Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, took home the coveted crown, succeeding Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.

Adetshina’s remarkable journey began as one of 126 contestants from around the world, including 18 representatives from African nations. She progressed from the top 30 finalists to the top five, ultimately claiming the second spot alongside Theilvig.

This achievement follows Adetshina’s earlier controversy surrounding her participation in the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant. She withdrew from the competition due to questions about her ties to South Africa.

However, Adetshina bounced back, clinching the Miss Universe Nigeria title while representing Taraba State. Her impressive performance on the global stage has earned Nigeria pride and recognition.
