Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has authorized a new minimum wage of 70,000 Naira for state employees working in the public sector.
The announcement, which came on Wednesday via a press statement signed by the Head of Service, Paul Maigida Tino, confirmed that the wage adjustment will take effect this month, with payments commencing in November.
“I wish to inform you that the governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has approved the implementation of the N70,000 new minimum wage for workers in the state with effect from November 2024,” he said.
Elated by the approval, civil servants, who spoke to DAILY POST, said the increase in their wages will go a long way in addressing the economic challenges bedeviling them and the country at large.
