Chelsea FC has reportedly put an end to the pursuit of the Nigerian international player and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen.

The Blues are already shaken up their ranks significantly this summer but remain hopeful of being busy in the final few days of the transfer window, with acquisitions at both ends of the pitch not being ruled out.

Enzo Maresca has made it no secret that he would like to welcome the arrival of a marquee striker to lead the line for his side, with several options being explored.

Osimhen has been cited as the top target at Stamford Bridge throughout this summer, with the ex-Lille star keen to leave Napoli before Friday’s deadline.

However, despite negotiations intensifying in recent weeks due to a deal which will see Romelu Lukaku head in the opposite direction, Chelsea appears to be turning attention to alternative targets.

According to The Guardian, the Blues have failed to reach a ‘breakthrough’ in talks with Napoli and the demands of the player are proving a sticking point in negotiations as well. Chelsea are not willing to match his wage demands, despite Osimhen being keen on the move.

With Osimhen no longer appearing to be a viable option to Todd Boehly and co, the higher powers at Chelsea is now looking at alternatives and have reignited their interest in Brentford’s Ivan Toney as a result.
