As Nigeria joins the global community in celebrating World Photography Day, the Chairman of the Association of Professional Photographers, Abia State (APPAS), Mr. Anthony Agu Uka, has made a passionate appeal to the government to support the photography industry.

In a chat with our correspondent, Mr. Uka, who is also the CEO of Tonysteve Photography, called on the government to invest in infrastructure and environmental beautification to provide a conducive environment for professional photographers to showcase their craft.

He also urged the government to provide funding and resources for photography programs, exhibitions, and initiatives that promote Nigerian culture and creativity. Mr. Uka emphasized the importance of recognizing the value and impact of visual storytelling in shaping public perception and policy.

Furthermore, he called for collaboration between the government and photographers to showcase Nigeria’s beauty, culture, and heritage, with the aim of promoting tourism and economic growth.

Mr. Uka explained that World Photography Day is celebrated annually on August 19th to appreciate the art of photography, inspire photographers, and raise awareness about the importance of photography in our lives.

To mark the day, Mr. Uka encouraged photographers and enthusiasts to share their photos on social media and participate in the Photo Walk.
