Former Nigeria international Desire Oparanozie has charged the Super Falcons ahead of the Paris Olympic games.

On Wednesday Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum announced the players that would represent Nigeria at the games.

Among notable names are Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Toni and Nicole Payne, Michelle Alozie and Others also named in the squad are Chiamaka Nnadozie, Jennifer Echegini, Christy Ucheibe, Halimotu Ayinde, Uchenna Kanu, Tosin Demehin, Deborah Abiodun among others.

Reacting after the announcement of the squad, Oparanozie wrote on X: ”All the best Team. Will be cheering from here. Go and conquer.”

Oparanozie announced her retirement from professional after the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the likes of Ifeoma Onumonu and Monday Gift have been placed on standby while Ashleigh Plumptre did not make the cut as she is still recovering from injury.

The Falcons will face Spain, Brazil and Japan in the group stage at the Paris Olympic games.

It is a return to the games for the Falcons whose last appearance was at Beijing 2008.
