The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo, Lawmaker representing Adamawa North, North East Nigeria.

Elected for a second term in February 2023 under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abbo in the ruling lost to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, Amos Yohanna.

The Appeal Court in its ruling on Monday ordered the electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Senator Abbo and issue same to Rev. Yohanna.

Reacting to the Monday judgement, Senator Abbo on his verified Facebook page, said, “The Court Appeal in Abuja just voided my election. The gang up has temporarily worked. I will soon address the press.”

The parliamentarian became notoriously popular after he was seen in a viral video before his inauguration as a member of the ninth Senate assaulting a lady, Ms Osimibibra Warmate, in a sex toy shop in Banex Plaza Abuja, the nation’s capital.

An FCT High Court had ordered Abbo to pay N50 million as compensation to Warmate for assaulting her at a sex toy shop.

He equally lost his appeal at the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal which affirmed N50 million damages that was awarded against him for assaulting Ms. Warmate in the sex toy shop.

In January, a Yola High Court presided over by Justice Mohammed Danladi had sacked Senator Ishaku Abbo as the APC Senatorial candidate for Adamawa North senatorial candidate.

The court held that he was expelled from the party by his ward in Mubi North local government area of Adamawa, stating that he was not entitled to enjoy any right or privilege accorded to APC members.
